Finned Tube coil

As a basic heat exchange equipment, the finned heat exchange coil consists of a base tube and fins that are spirally welded on the outer surface of the base tube. It is a special-shaped finned tube formed by winding a straight tube through a coiling machine and other equipment.

Finned Tube Coils are suitable for general industrial, food and beverage, HVAC, marine, air handling and cooling, petrochemical, asphalt, pharmaceutical, power generation and refrigeration markets. When selecting tube coils for an application, it is important to consider all requirements to ensure maximum service life and performance. Finned tube coils are found in many process heating systems and are many times the first major component to show symptoms of improper upstream filtration.

Finned tube coils (sometimes called heat transfer coils) have two important components to transfer heat.

The first is the tube, also known as the "primary surface". The second is the fin surface, also known as the "subsurface".

Both are important for creating a design heat transfer with balanced air and water side resistance.

Finned tube coil heat exchangers are usually used for gas-liquid exchange. Heat transfer on the gas side is usually much lower than on the liquid side, which requires fins. The fins on the outside of the tube may be normal on a single tube, or they may be transverse, helical or longitudinal. Longitudinal fins are typically used in double-tube or shell-and-tube heat exchangers without baffles. Fluids can be gases or viscous liquids.
